It is my pleasure to be your principal. Harbor High School is an amazing place. Amazing people walk its halls every day. To be here sharing these halls with you is truly an awesome experience for me.
My journey to Harbor High School was 46 years in the making. I was born in Tacoma, and since then have lived on the Harbor almost my whole life. This area isn’t for everyone, but I have always called it home. I grew up and attended schools in Hoquiam, graduating from there in…..well, let’s just say it was a while ago. I attended Grays Harbor Community College, and then Western Washington University where I graduated with my teaching credentials. I was lucky enough to land a job in Aberdeen High School where I was a teacher and coach for ten years. The most important lesson I learned as a teacher was that I could learn as much from my students as they could from me, if I would just be quiet and listen to them. After ten years, I attended Central Washington University, and received my Administrative Credentials, returning to Aberdeen High School as an assistant principal, athletic director, and other roles. During that time, I had the pleasure of working with some great teachers, and students, and also people like Rick Moore, and Sherrie Northington who have worked so hard over here. I also began hearing of the hard working staff and students at Harbor High School. I admired how hard the staff over here worked, and I was constantly amazed at the extra mile they would go for their students. The stories that came back to me of the students who wouldn’t quit on their education, even when circumstances would have made it easy for them to do so, inspired me. When Sherrie came over here, I knew that Harbor High School was going to continue to be a little school with a big heart. To get the chance to follow in her footsteps was a great opportunity, and one that I was happy to accept when it was offered to me.
A little about me—I am married to my beautiful wife, Tina. We have two children, Camryn and Nolan. My family is my rock and foundation. I love hiking, reading, playing on the computer, sports, good music, and good coffee. I love to learn new things, and I look forward to all I can learn from the staff and students here.
I consider living here in the Harbor, surrounded by so much natural awesomeness, to be a gift. I admire the toughness of the people who live here. I am counting on that toughness to help our students get to that diploma, and plan for life after high school. My job is to make sure that we provide the best education we can, every day, for every student. I want Harbor High to remain a safe, relaxed atmosphere where students can learn, explore, and make the connections that will see them through to the next phase of their lives. My goal is to see each and every student who enrolls here, graduate. It is a goal I know I share with our staff, and hope I share with our students.
Together, I know we can make this a great experience for you.
We are a small school, but we do have a big heart. Open yours to what we have to offer!
I am proud to be a Dragon, and look forward to serving you as best as I can.
