I attended Central Park Elementary School as a child from preschool through sixth grade. I went on to attend Hopkins Jr. High in 7th, Miller Jr. High in 8th grade and graduated from Aberdeen High School. I stayed on the Harbor for one year, attending Grays Harbor Community College before attending Central Washington University where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in teaching. I worked on my graduate work at Lesley Graduate School to earn my MaEd & added an endorsement for K-8 through Saint Martin's University extension campus at McCord Airforce Base. I am beginning my 32nd year of teaching at Central Park.
There are many things I enjoy about teaching. One that stands out for me is seeing the light bulb come on in a student when they finally understand a new concept! It is rewarding to know you finally made a difference to a child.
My personal life is filled with joy. I am happily married to a Forester/Wildland firefighter and we have four children in our blended family. My oldest daughter just became engaged this summer and will be moving from Idaho to California to be near her fiance's family. My youngest daughter is working and living on the coast of Washington as a beach girl serving her community. My stepson has just moved back to the harbor from Idaho and is on the job hunt. While my stepdaughter is a lovely Starbucks barista in the Puget Sound area. I feel blessed. Our family enjoys camping regularly on our Lake Roosevelt property and we have had many fun adventures. I like to read for enjoyment when I can find the time and I spend numerous hours working on our five acres, from mowing to gardening.
I look forward to having your children in my class this year. Here's to a great 2023-2024 school year.
